Over the years, I’ve had more nos than yeses. I’ve had more disappointments than satisfactions. I’ve had more frienemies than friends. I’ve had my feelings hurt, been laughed at, been lied on … well who hasn’t? Can anyone name one person who’s had a perfect life?
I’ve had some good days. I’ve had some hills to climb. I’ve had some weary days. And some sleepless nights. But when I look around and think things over, all of my good days outweigh my bad days. I won’t complain.Rev. Paul Jones (2010)
I remember singing this song in church some 26 years ago. It was my first Sunday back after the death of my father and staying home for a few weeks with my newborn daughter. That song resonated with how I was feeling back then. And it still stands true today.
I can be completely honest. Sometimes I do complain. But after a while, I came back to my senses and realize that all disappointments are not meant to hurt you. All nos are not meant to crush your spirit. It is in those times that wisdom kicks in and makes you realize that some nos are truly blessings. Some traffic delays mean you are not meant to be at a certain place at a certain time – be patient. The no-shows or no callbacks that you receive mean you need to reevaluate your position in that person’s life and see exactly where you stand. Some people do not have the gift of discernment. If you do, you know exactly where I am coming from.
Sometimes the clouds hang low. I can hardly see the road. I asked the question Lord. “Lord, why so much pain?” But He knows what’s best for me. Although my weary eyes, they can’t see. So I’ll just say THANK YOU, LORD. I won’t complain.Rev. Paul Jones (2010)
Meaningful quotes I try to live by:
- Love those who love you.
- Don’t worry about things you can’t control.
- Always be a 1st Class YOU and not a 2nd Class somebody else.
See how much things will change in your life if you follow those simple rules!
Until next … be blessed!
